摘要
本文探究乔姆斯基I-语言/E-语言之分的语言研究价值和理论诠释意义,以期达到原则化诠释的理论高度。刺激贫乏现象是I-语言/E-语言之分的研究缘起,而乔姆斯基的自愿存疑、主动生惑并辩证求解的研究理念则是该研究的原始驱动力。在生物属性方面,I-语言属于狭义语言官能,而E-语言是线性化的I-语言,属于广义语言官能。在句法特性方面,狭义句法等同于I-句法,而广义句法包括狭义句法和E-句法。E-语言对I-语言产生反向的“回溯”操作,形成“回溯语言”(RI-语言)。在理论诠释方面,不同于E-语言,I-语言有助于解答所有“乔姆斯基五问”。生成语法学派不满足于I-语言/E-语言研究的观察、描述及解释的充分性,旨在实现I-语言研究的“超越解释充分性”。
This paper explores both the value of the linguistic study and the significance of the theoretical interpretation of Chomsky’s I-language/E-language division in order to attain the theoretical sophistication of the principled interpretation.The poverty-of-stimulus phenomenon is the research origin of the I-language/E-language division,and Chomsky’s research philosophy of voluntary suspicion,active skepticism and dialectical investigation is the primary driving force of this research.In terms of biological properties,I-language belongs to the narrow Faculty-of-Language,but E-language is the linearized I-language and belongs to the broad Faculty-of-Language.Regarding syntactic properties,narrow syntax equals to I-syntax,but broad syntax includes narrow syntax and E-syntax.E-language imposes the reverse“re-internalization”operation onto I-language,and forms the“re-internalized language”(RI-language).As for the theoretical interpretation,unlike E-language,I-language helps answer all the“Chomskyan Five Questions”.Generative-grammar school is not satisfied with the observational,descriptive and explanatory adequacies in I-language/E-language studies,and seeks to achieve the“beyond explanatory adequacy”of I-language studies.
