Resource Acquisition and Benefits Exchange in Relational Networks:The Operational Logic of University Alumni Association in the Republic of China

校友会作为连接学校和校友的纽带,产生于学校资源获取和校友利益交换的双重需要,建立于借鉴美国校友会和改造我国同学会的基础之上。校友会构建了一个覆盖广泛、影响深远的校友关系网络,对学校和校友的发展都产生了重要影响:对学校而言,校友会是其借以获取办学资源的有效途径;对于校友而言,校友会为其提供了优质的利益交换平台。校友会在促进学校和学生发展的同时,也可能助长门户之见和裙带之风,需要辩证对待。

As a link between the school and alumni, alumni association arises from the dual needs of resource acquisition on part of the school and benefits exchange on part of alumni. The rise of the university alumni association in the Republic of China was based on the model of American alumni associations and the reformation of Chinese alumni associations. The alumni association enabled a wide-ranging and far-reaching network of relationships, exerting a substantial impact on the growth of the school and individual alumni. For the school alumni associations offer an effective means to obtain school-running resources;for alumni, alumni associations provide a high-quality platform for the exchange of benefits. Notwithstanding its role in promoting the development of schools and students, alumni association may also promote the ideas of families and nepotism, thus warranting a dialectic stance.
