The Theoretical Characteristics of Philosophy of Language and Its Presentation in Chinese Context

语言哲学探讨语言在人类的一般思维中的地位和作用。它和其他哲学探究活动一样,假定从语言到思想再到世界的整体概念框架,其独特性在于将语言在人的概念思维中的作用凸显出来。尽管语言学转向发生于德语和英语世界,但中国古代哲学家也像古希腊哲学家一样,很早便展开了关于语言对于哲学思维的重要性的思考,并在其思考中展现出类似于西方哲学家的总体思想特征。可以期待中国学者在当今的语言哲学研究中作出带有汉语特色的思想贡献。

Philosophy of language explores the position and function of language in the general thinking of human beings. It assumes the overall conceptual framework from language to thought and then to the world. Its uniqueness lies in highlighting the role of language in people’s conceptual thinking.Ancient Chinese philosophers began to think about the importance of language to philosophical thinking very early,showing the general ideological characteristics similar to those of Western philosophers. Chinese scholars can be expected to make ideological contributions with Chinese characteristics in the study of contemporary philosophy of language.
