“Trilogy of Chinese Americans” : The Key and Breakthrough to Chinese Americans’ Cultural Identity

华裔美国剧作家黄哲伦,通过其"美华三部曲"作品,深刻揭示出中国文化与美国文化对于在美华裔的双重影响作用,提出只有依靠对于中国文化的接受才能真正实现华裔的身份认同。本文从比较文学研究角度出发,通过对这三部剧本的文本分析,论述作品中所表现出的对中华传统文化的强烈认同感以及对于构建华裔身份认同的重要作用。

Through the dramas of"Trilogy of Chinese Americans"by Chinese-American playwright David Henry Hwang,the dramatist profoundly reveals the double influences of Chinese traditional culture and American local culture on Chinese Americans,stating that only by accepting the Chinese culture can Chinese Americans realize their cultural identity genuinely. In this thesis,from the perspectives of comparative literature research,through the text analysis of these plays,the author discusses the strong sense of identity of Chinese traditional culture and Its significance on constructing cultural identity for Chinese Americans.
