科技与人文:对立还是互补?

Sci-Tech and Humanities:Opposition or Complementation?

科学与人文虽然有着诸多差异,但这二者并非天然对立,它们完全可以在一个更高的层次上沟通、对话并且互补。在中国近代史上,科学和民主以及人文主义的引进中国,曾极大地推进了中国的现代化进程。正是我们将科学引入中国才帮助中国建立了现代欧洲模式的综合性大学。可以说,科学与人文配合默契,相得益彰,共同推进了中国的现代化民主进程。在今天的双一流大学和学科建设中,我们也不应厚此薄彼,而要同时注重自然科学和人文社会科学。尽管在不少人看来,人文学科不可能带来立竿见影的经济效益,但它对人们的影响主要在于人的世界观和综合素质,尤其是对那些成功人士的微妙影响更是不可估量的,那些居于领导地位的人的思想观点的形成和变化更是直接导致政治、经济和文化方面的巨大改变。因此就此而言,人文学科不仅有用,而且有很大的用处。人文学科的价值不可能用直接的经济效益来衡量,但是却能产生间接的经济效益。即使在当今时代,后人文主义的冲击使人的地位有所贬抑,但是说到底,人的作用是任何机器都无法真正取代的。

Although science and humanities have many differences,they are not necessarily totally opposite.But instead,they could communicate and converse with each other on a higher level.In modern China,the introduction of science and democracy,as well as humanism into China,tremendously facilitated China’s modernization.The introduction of science into China contributes to the establishment of modern European mode of comprehensive universities in China.Science and humanities cooperated well and got mutual benefits promoting China’s modern democracy.In today’s commitment of world-class universities and academic disciplines,balanced development is necessary for science or humanities and social sciences,without any preference.Although many people believe that humanities cannot bring about immediate economic benefits,they will influence one’s world view as well as his overall qualities.Such subtle influence could be immeasurable especially to those successful elites.The ideological formation and change of those leading personnel will no doubt bring about huge economic and cultural change.It is true that the value of the humanities cannot be measured with immediate economic benefits,but it will produce economic effects in an indirectly way.Even though in the current era posthumanism somewhat degrades human beings,the role of man can by no means be really replaced by any other machinery.
