对语言管理中几个问题的思考

Reflections of Five Basic Questions about Language Management

语言管理是社会语言学或语言政策及规划学科的一个分支,国外学界对它的研究历史不长,我国学界对它的研究则更少。为此,本文主要围绕"什么是语言管理""语言管理有何特点""语言能管理吗""语言需要管理吗"以及"如何看待语言管理"5个基本问题展开分析,以便让更多的国人了解和参与语言管理的研究和实践,进而为我国语言政策的制定以及语言生活的管理提供更多的理论依据和实践参考。

Language management(LM) is a subset of sociolinguistics or language policy and planning(LPP). The academic study of LM began merely from 1970 s, with Czech, Australia, Israel, USA and Japan advancing ahead in the world. However, such study has not been much conducted in China. Thus, this paper is to make an analysis of, and supply answers to, the following five basic questions with respect to LM: What is LM? What features does LM have? Can language be managed? Does language need management? How do we look at LM? Hopefully, the paper will arouse more people’s interests in the study and practice of LM in China, so that more useful findings about LM can be offered to language policy makers and language managers in China for reference.
