This paper mainly analyzes the current situation of patent applications in the two most important protected areas of HVDC system:line protection and converter protection.This paper traces the global patent application trends,important applicants,technical branches,technology evolution and core patents in the above two fields.It is expected that this review can help examiners in related fields to fully understand the development process and hot technology development in the field of line and converter protection,in order to improve the efficiency of retrieval and examination.
