As the Jean Rhys’masterpiece,there are many themes and images in Wide Sargasso Sea.In the novel,where there’s a fire,there’s a change in her life.Thus,the analysis of the fire image is necessary.For Antoinette,the problems of her race and oppressed female position lie behind the fire lie.The fire solve these identity problem,making her gain self-surmounting and rebirth.As an autobiographical work,Antoinette is the real reflection of the author herself,because the author also faces these problems above.Therefore,setting fire is a metaphysical method for the author to reach reconciliation with the real world.
