Rural history is one of the most prominent and hot topics in historical researches.When rural issues run between history and reality,study on rural history has the dual significance of historical value and realistic enlightenment.Professor Wang Xianming’s new book A Long Way to Go:Rural Changes in China(1901-1949)starts with the changes of rural society in the first half of the 20th century,makes a detailed analysis of the internal changes and overall trends in the rural society,and summarizes the general laws of the historical evolution of China’s villages,which has greatly promoted the in-depth and expansion of rural history research,and provided historical references for the interpretation and solutions of contemporary issues concerning agriculture,rural areas and farmers.A Long Way to Go:Rural China in 20th Century(1901-1949)constructs an analytical framework and discourse system for the study of rural history,providing a methodological reference template and a dialogue platform for future rural history researches.
