论葛浩文《蛙》英译本的忠实与背叛

Study on Faithfulness and Treason in Howard Goldblatt's,English Version of Frog

本文以社会翻译学中的惯习、场域、资本这三个方面入手,以莫言长篇小说《蛙》为分析蓝本,分析文化负载词、四字成语、谚语、方言、政治术语、叠词等六个方面,探讨葛译版本特有的翻译策略以及其创造性处理的方式。本文结论是:葛浩文灵活地建构了有利于自己独立翻译的译者身份与社会环境,凭借在形式上一定程度的背叛和在内容上忠实于原文整体风格与所传递精神的独特翻译实践,突破了经典化了的文学表达,使得源文本的精神在西方语境下再生,令其译作易于为英美读者接纳。

With the research method of translating sociology,this paper is designed to analyze Howard Goldblatt's English version of Frog from the key concepts of habitus,field and capital.It analyzes cultural-loaded words,four-character idioms,proverbs,dialects,political terms and replicated words respectively and discusses his translation strategies.The conclusion is:Howard Goldblatt created innovative translation strategies that are beneficial for him as a translator with his editing role,which are faithful to the style and culture in the source text while flexibile in forms in other cases.The translation version delivers the source culture with an acceptable way for western readers of English.
