Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on China’s Regional Economy and Countermeasures

全球新冠肺炎疫情严重危及人类的生命安全,对生产生活、国际贸易、公共卫生、国际交往等领域造成极大的破坏。我国区域经济遭受这次疫情的严重冲击,湖北省经济社会发展受疫情影响最大,服务业占比较高、产业链较为发达或外贸规模较大的省份受疫情影响更为明显,疫情也增大了贫困地区如期脱贫的难度。疫情对我国区域经济未来发展影响既有机遇,又存在重大的挑战。中央和地方政府应积极采取应对策略,才能化危为机,克服疫情,尽快恢复经济社会发展秩序。

The outbreak and spread of COVID-19 has been considered as a great danger for human life,with huge impact on people’s work and lives,international trade,public health,international communication and so on.China’s regional economy has been severely hit by the pandemic,with Hubei Province’s economic and social development suffered the most.Other provinces that have been affected more were those with a higher proportion of service industry,with more developed industrial chains or with larger scale of foreign trades.The pandemic has also increased the difficulty of poverty alleviation in poor areas as planned.The pandemic produced both opportunities and challenges on the future development of China’s regional economy.Both central and local governments should take active measures to get through the pandemic and restore economic and social order as soon as possible.
