摘要
视觉文化研究基本形成了两种在问题意识、研究方法和思想取向上都大有分歧的类型:一种是文化研究和社会批判理论视域下的视觉文化研究,一种则是内在于艺术史与图像研究传统的视觉文化研究。前者逐渐丧失理论活力与现实批判的能量,后者则在视觉、图像、媒介和感官等问题上转向了更加深入的思考与分析。艺术史与图像研究视域下的视觉文化研究以"视觉性"为核心问题,探讨视觉的社会文化建构,并以此与现代性概念和媒介问题形成紧密的关联,形成视觉现代性与媒介考古两种新的研究趋向,成为视觉文化研究不断走向深入的突破点。
Visual culture studies have basically formed two types which are quite different in problem consciousness,methodology and intellectual orientation.One is from the perspective of culture studies and social critical theory,and the other lies in the tradition of art history and image studies.The former gradually lost its theoretical vitality and potential of criticism on reality,while the latter turned to more in-depth thinking and analysis on vision,image,media and sensation issues.From the perspective of art history and image studies,visual culture studies focus on the concept of visuality and discusses the social and cultural construction of vision.Thus,it forms a close relation to the field of modernity and media studies,highlighting two new research trends of visual modernity and media archaeology,and becomes a breakthrough point of visual culture studies.
