摘要
英国作家哈葛德的作品Joan Haste在近代中国有两个译本,其中林纾的全译本问世之后,评论界褒贬不一,引发了极大的社会效应。立足意识形态视角的翻译理论和二译本社会效应的基础之上,通过分析清末民初的意识形态和翻译大潮,以及林纾的翻译理念和翻译实业,认为在当时启民智和救中国的翻译意识形态之下,林纾为了收到读者更好的反应,并实现其翻译目的,主要通过语言方面的选择和文化方面的适应,为《迦茵小传》全译本的社会效应最大化做出了积极的努力。
The British writer Haged′s work Joan Haste has two translations in modern China.Among them,Lin Shu′s full translation came out,and the critics received mixed reviews,which caused great social effects.There are,in modern China,two translated versions of Joan Haste written by Haggard,a British writer,and among them,Lin Shu′s translation aroused heated discussion when coming out,causing great social effects.On the basis of translation theory from ideological perspective,as well as social effects of the two translations,this paper probed into the ideology and translation tide in late Qing Dynasty,and analyzed Lin Shu′s principles and practice of translation.It is concluded that under the ideology of enlightening the people and saving China at that time,Lin Shu made positive efforts to maximize the social effect of the whole version of Joan Haste through linguistic choice and cultural adaptation in order to receive better response from the readers and achieve his translation purpose.
