Co-translation is a term, which is different from independent translation. It refers to a cooperative, collaborative,or joint rendering of a text into a foreign language by two or more translators, such as the co-translation activities of Yang Hsien-yi and Gladys Yang, and James Legge and Wang Tao.This paper first reviews and analyzes the presence of co-translation to confirm the rationality and necessity of its presence. It then delves into the similarities and differences between co-translation and independent translation with a case study of three English versions of Fu Sheng Liu Ji in order to underline the theoretical and practical values of the co-translation.
