Textual cohesion plays an indispensable part in IELTS academic writing.It can not only reflect students'mastery and application of English objective,but also reflect the true situation of English writing teaching.Hence,it is very necessary to emphasize the importance of coherence and cohesion in IELTS writing.Specifically,we can start from the four aspects of reference,ellipsis,substitution and conjunction to improve the coherence of IELTS academic writing,which aims to provide an empirical basis for IELTS writing teaching.
