In recent years,Ma Jinlian’s novels closely follow China’s social development,and her literary themes and concern have been shifting onto the living conditions of modern villages and farmers against the background of immigration and relocation.She has created nostalgic novels that transcend the sense of historical time,reproduced the characteristics of the old countryside,and cast her literary eyes to social violence,digging into the moral evil of human nature.Her attitude to creation and artistic expression have also changed correspondingly,expressing people’s reluctance to leave their homeland by means of memory narration.From the perspective of ethics,Ma discusses social problems and explains the rural world she knows and understands by diversified narration.She adheres to and inherits the artistic principle of realism,consciously pursues and identifies with national culture,and keeps to the passion and perseverance of local literature,which reflects the realistic significance of the“post-80s”literature.
