Collectanea of Worldly Affairs in Peking(《京尘杂录》) is the magnum opus of Yang Maojian(杨懋建) who was a traditional opera lover in Qing Dynasty. This book has recorded the life and achievements of actors and anecdotes of the operatic circle during the later years in Jiaqing reign and the years in Daoguang reign. It is compiled properly and written straight, which is learned from predecessors’ s writings, but has its own style. Also, it aimed to lead people to practice traditional ethics by taking history as a mirror, which is pinned on author’s political aspiration. To accommodate actual needs of the Confucian politics, historical records of traditional Chinese opera written by the folk intelligentsia had become symbols of Confucian Humanization to take part in constructing the framework of etiquette system potentially and perform the social function of maintaining the order tenaciously by their influence power to people.
