《巴黎圣母院》与《双城记》中的人道主义思想之比较

A Comparative Study of Humanitarianism Between“Notre Dame de Paris”and“A Tale of Two Cities”

维克多·雨果和查尔斯·狄更斯两位文学巨匠都是人道主义思想的代表人物,雨果的《巴黎圣母院》和狄更斯的《双城记》,其核心的文学精神都体现了人道主义。比较分析这两部作品所蕴含的人道主义的异同,可以进一步认识人道主义的内涵,加深对这两部作品思想意义的理解。文章从同情受欺压的劳动人民、抨击残暴的封建法制、倡导人人平等和颂扬普世之爱等方面说明两部作品人道主义的共同之处;从对暴力的态度和是否认同阶级可以调和等方面探索差异之处,并分析了形成差异的原因。

Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens are all the representatives of humanitarianism.Humanitarianism is embodied in both Hugo’s“Notre Dame de Paris”and Dickens“A Tale of Two Cities”.By comparing and analyzing the similarities and differences of humanitarianism in the two works,we can not only further understand the connotations of humanitarianism,but also deepen our understanding of the ideological significance of the two works.This paper explains the common humanitarian features of the two works from the four aspects:sympathizing with the oppressed working people,attacking the brutal feudal legal system,advocating equality for all the people and praising the universal love.It explores the differences from two aspects:their attitudes towards violence and a case of whether the class can be reconciled or not,thus analyzing the reasons for the differences.
