Filling the Gap Beijing Review,published in May 2020 Despite the serious impact of the COVID-19(novel coronavirus disease),China hasn't seen massive layoffs,and its employment situation has remained basically stable.According to a survey by the National Bureau of Statistics,the unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 5.9 percent in March,down 0.3 percentage point from February.The figures for April and May are expected to decrease,as resumption of work and production accelerates.
