摘要
阿尔诺与朗斯洛合著的《普遍唯理语法》,于1660年出版。它是一部以理性主义和逻辑主义观点来系统论述普遍语法的经典著作。作者认为,语言是思想的表现,语言和思想之间有着内在的联系。因此,语法和逻辑之间也必然有着内在的联系,语法应该依赖于逻辑,逻辑的标准应该是确定语法现象正确性的标准。此书不是关于某一种语言的语法,而是通过理性逻辑,力图规定适用于大多数语言的语法,并试图解释不同语法背后所共有的人类的逻辑思维。此书所体现出的唯理性和普遍性语言思想,对当今的语言研究仍然有深刻的启示。
Published in 1660,General and Rational Grammar:The Port-Royal Grammar co-authored by Arnauld and Lancelot is a classic work systematically discussing the general grammar from rationalism and logicism.The authors believe that language is the expression of thought,and there is an internal connection between language and thought.Therefore,there must be an internal relationship between grammar and logic.Grammar should rely on logic,and the standard of logic should be the standard to determine the grammatical correctness.This book is not about a certain language grammar.It is,through rational logic,trying to stipulate the grammar applicable to most languages,and to explain the common logical thinking of human.The thought of rationalism and generality embodied in this book still has profound implications for today’s language research.
