传统的汉语方言研究注重语言系统内部的演变,对因接触导致的语言演变现象关注不够。《语言接触与湘西南苗瑶平话调查研究》一书在描写苗瑶平话语言事实的基础上,着力阐述了因接触而产生的语言变化,同时采用社会语言学的方法对苗瑶平话的语言活力进行评估。与传统研究相比,该书在方言研究的理念和方法上都是一种突破。

Traditional studies of Chinese dialects pay more attention to the internal evolution of the language system than to the phenomenon of language evolution caused by contact.Based on the description of the conditions of Ping dialect of Miao and Yao nationality,the book Language Contact and Field Studies on Ping Dialect of Miao and Yao Nationality in Southwest Hunan focuses on the changes caused by the contact,and evaluates the language vitality of Ping dialect of Miao and Yao nationality with the method of sociolinguistics.Compared with the traditional research,the book is a breakthrough in the concept and method of dialect research.
