A Study on Subtitle Translation of Movie The Shawshank Redemption from the Perspective of Multimodal Discourse Analysis

近年来,随着经济的飞速发展,互联网、多媒体等方面也日益繁荣,故中外跨文化交际日益增加。电影电视剧作为一种跨文化交际方式,满足了人们观剧观影的需求,这其中字幕翻译便起到了举足轻重的作用。从多模态话语分析角度入手,从文化层面、语境层面、内容层面及表达层面四个方面来探讨电影《肖申克的救赎》的字幕翻译,以期对英文影视剧爱好者以及研究字幕翻译的学者给予一定参考。

Cross-cultural communication becomes essential in prevailing internet and multimedia as a result of booming global economy.As a means of cross-cultural communication,movies and TV series are watched with translated subtitles.Starting from the perspective of multi-modal discourse analysis,this paper discusses subtitle translation of the Shawshank Redemption from the four aspects of culture,context,content and expression,in the hope of providing some reference for fans of English TV series and scholars studying subtitle translation.
