摘要 胡素馨教授著《衍相:七至十世纪中国和中亚佛教壁画》,2004年由斯坦福大学出版社出版,修订后的中译本即将由北京大学出版社出版。序文叙述了此书的学术历程,以及作者与中国学术界的联系与交流,为中文读者提供了一些背景情况。此书是作者对整个佛教艺术史和敦煌石窟的研究成果,其中包括有关敦煌壁画创作过程的深入研究,并讨论了敦煌粉本与白画两种画稿,以及绘制绢本画幡和纸本仪轨图的不同画稿等问题,在内容、方法上,都令人耳目一新。 Performing the Visual:The Practice of Buddhist Wall Painting in China and Central Asia,618—960 by Professor Sarah Fraser was first published in 2004 by Stanford University Press,a revised Chinese version is soon to be published by Peking University Press.In order to provide a context for Chinese readers,the preface of the forthcoming Chinese version describes the academic research history of the text as well as the connection and exchanges between Professor Sarah Fraser and Chinese academia.This book presents the entirety of the author’s research on Buddhist art history and Dunhuang caves,including in-depth research on the techniques and processes of Dunhuang mural creation and discussion of the preliminary sketches and line drawings for Dunhuang paintings and the various sketches used for making silk banners and paper ritual pictures.This valuable anthropological research is innovative in both contents and methodology.
