认知文体学视域中的翻译行为研究——以阿来《格萨尔王》英译为例

A Cognitive Stylistic Approach to Translation Act: The Case of the English Translation of The Song of King Gesar

认知文体学关注语言接受与产出背后的认知机制与过程,适用于探究翻译过程中不可直接观察到的译者翻译行为。基于语言现象、生理表征和翻译行为之关联,本文运用认知文体学理论来图解翻译过程,研究翻译行为,并以阿来小说《格萨尔王》中佛教用语英译为例,运用文体分析法对译者认知进行探索。本文指出译者的语言现象、生理表征均由翻译行为主导产生;与实证研究相似,文体分析法亦可用于翻译行为分析。本研究旨在为译者认知提供新的研究途径,以推进翻译行为研究的发展。

Cognitive stylistics focuses on the correlation between stylistic characteristics,reading process,and human cognition. This research approach can be employed to explore the translation act that cannot be observed directly in the translation process. Based on the connections between language phenomena,physiological reactions and the translation act,this paper discusses what the translation process is like by applying cognitive stylistics to the translation act and conducts a stylistic analysis of translator’s cognition by taking the English translation of Buddhist elements in Alai’s The Song of King Gesar as an example. The conclusion postulates that translator’s language phenomena and physiological reactions are both generated by the translation act,and that,like empirical methods,the use of stylistics analysis is also instrumental in analyzing translation act. This study aims to provide innovative research methods for exploring translator’s cognition,hence promoting the development of translation act studies.
