演绎大乘遍南天:从太虚大师到法舫法师

Spread Mahayana Buddhism all over Nanyang——From Master Taixu to Master Fafang

太虚大师一生致力于佛教改革与世界佛教运动,曾多次出访东南亚地区,拥有同时代人少有的世界眼光。法舫法师作为太虚大师门下的杰出弟子,一生禀承太虚大师的弘法精神,以佛心为己心,以师志为己志,积极投身于世界佛教运动之中。他远涉南洋,于缅甸、锡兰、印度等地,研习南传佛教,传播大乘佛法,讲述中国文化,是现代中国佛教走出去的代表人物之一。在今天“一带一路”倡议的推广活动中,中国佛教要走出去,我们不应忘记这些前行者。

Master Taixu devoted his whole life to Buddhist reform and the World Buddhist Movement.He visited Southeast Asia many times and had the world vision that few people of his time had.As an outstanding disciple of Master Taixu,Master Fafang inherited Master Taixu’s spirit of spreading Buddhism all his life,took the Buddhist heart as his own heart,took his teacher’s ambition as his own,and actively participated in the world Buddhist Movement.As one of the representatives of modern Chinese Buddhism going abroad,he traveled far to the south,studied Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar,Ceylon,India and other places,spread Mahayana Buddhism and related Chinese culture.In today’s“One belt,one road”promotion campaign,if Chinese Buddhism is to go out,we should not forget these former practitioners.
