The experience of living in Paris has made Paris the setting of many of Daudet’s novels.Fromont and Risler is just such a work,which satirizes and criticizes the luxurious life of the upper class by depicting“decadent Paris”.Through the description of“Paris of suffering”,the author expresses his sympathy for the people of the lower class.Through the description of“warm Paris”,it expresses the praise of and yearning for the shining humanity.
