This paper,based on textual analyses,is going to study the acoustic narrative skills Poe uses in his two famous thrillers:The Tell-Tale Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher.It is found that Poe uses kinds of acoustic narrative skills in his stories to meet his expectations of creating the beauty of terror.The combination of soundscape and landscape creates a cubical space and a more expansive space for readers’imagination,whereby readers can enjoy the pleasure of terror.
