美国挑起经贸摩擦的直接原因在于解决对华贸易逆差问题。事实证明经贸摩擦不能解决美国对华贸易逆差的问题,而且对中美两国经济都产生了负面效应,也对中美关系带来影响。1979年中美正式建交以来,两国关系经历了曲折的发展过程。冷战结束后中美关系从建设性战略伙伴关系,走向21世纪两国共同构建的中美新型大国关系,经贸关系是中美关系的压舱石。特朗普政府挑起经贸摩擦并且不断升级,破坏了以规则为基础的国际经济秩序。美国在经贸摩擦中的霸权主义已经超出经贸领域,对中美关系产生了不良影响。
