Under the public opinion upsurge of promoting women’s education and banning foot binding, the activities of women groups in public places were more and more frequent,Based on the text and picture of Beijing’s Xingshi Pictorial, this paper examined the construction of female images in public places, and analyzed the gender connotation and social significance using the gender theory. It is not difficult to find that public opinion generated by modern media guided and regulated women’s words and deeds in public places, and strengthened women’s recognition of their own social role by constructing female images that conform to the expectations and the approval of male elite intellectuals.
