Sirt1 is an extensive and in-depth member of the sirtuin family.Like a transportation hub,it connects upstream microRNA and various downstream transcription factors, and plays an important role in anti-aging,cell apoptosis, oxidative stress and DNA damage.Posterior capsular opacification(PCO)is the most common complication of postoperative visual acuity loss in cataract patients. At present, there are no in vivo and in vitro studies on the occurrence and development of PCO by Sirt1.This article provides a review on the main pathways of biological action of Sirt1 and the prospect of Sirt1 in the treatment of PCO.
