随着严歌苓新作《妈阁是座城》的电影改编,主人公梅晓鸥的形象也发生了变化。通过小说和影视的对比,发现影片从“情节筛选”“个性剥离”和“主题强化”三个方面将原著中有血有肉、立体丰满的梅晓鸥塑造成善良、宽容,充满仁爱光辉的“圣母”形象。同一人物在不同媒介下的比较,无疑为严歌苓及其作品研究提供了新的学术视角。

In the adaptation film A CITY CALLED Macao,the protagonist character Mei Xiaoou is different from original novel of the same name written by Yan Gelin.Through the comparison between the novel and film,the film portrays Mei Xiaoou as a kind,tolerant and benevolent virgin from three aspects of"plot screening","personality stripping"and"theme strengthening".Comparing the same character in different media undoubtedly provides a new academic perspective for the study of Yan Geling and her works.
