The histamine H3 receptor is not only involved in the regulation of the synthesis, release and metabolism of histamine in the brain, but also significantly regulates the release and metabolism of many neurotransmitters. In recent years, based on the studies connected with histamine H3 receptor antagonists, the concept of histamine H3 receptor inverse agonist has been proposed.Histamine H3 inverse agonists involve in sleep-wake disorders, cognition, depression and other nervous system diseases. However, among numorous literatures related to histamine H3 receptor inverse agonists, the summary of histamine H3 receptor inverse agonist applications is in scanty. This article focuses on the latest research progress in the histamine H3 receptor inverse agonists’application in nervous system diseases by investigating domestic and foreign literatures.
