Hong Qisheng’s Jihe Zhai Notes on Poets and Poetry is one of renow ned works of notes on poets and poetry in Taiwan.The author made comments on poems and poets of all ages and dem onstrated theories of poetry writing and criticism.Meanw hile,facing with the cession of Taiwan to Japan in the late Qing D ynasty,Hong Qisheng expressed the adherence and attachm ent to Chinese traditional culture through writing notes on poets and poetry.To be more sp ecific,he adhered to Chinese traditional poetry standa rds,maintained the tradition of gentleness and generosity and abided by the elegance of poetry.
