Alice Munro once won the honor of Nobel Prize for literature.In her famous piece Runaway,Munro uses specific narrative skills to tell a story that Carla runs away from home with her neighbor's help to escape miserable marriage because she can't stand her husband's apathy.However,she backs home in the end due to fear for strange environment and confusion for future.The paper aims to discuss specific techniques and effects of narrative time,narrative structure and narrative voice in Runaway based on Genette,Chatman and Susan S·Lanser's narrative theories.
