The Idea of the Future of “Multi-Ethnic of Britain”:Origin,Dilemma and Theoretical Enlightenment

英国自二战以来解决种族问题时更关注移民数量控制,忽视国内种族融合问题。英国左翼面对种族主义的形式复杂化以及经济低迷造成种族摩擦扩大化的新情况,提出不应继续直接使用美国的概念体系,而应建构一种适合英国国情的"本土化"的多元文化话语体系--英国多族裔未来理念,然而,这一理念在收获积极反馈的同时,来自学术界的质疑和媒体的误解大大增加其推广的难度,而种族冲突进一步激化的现实状况促使新工党把"社会凝聚力"作为战略重点,不再参与"英国多族裔未来"计划。至此,"英国多族裔未来"逐渐消失在主流公共话语之中。这也让英国左翼明白种族问题不应沦为政党博弈的工具,只有奠定坚实的物质基础才有可能真正解决文化问题。

Since the Second World War,the United Kingdom has paid more attention to the control of the number of immigrants,and ignored the issue of domestic racial integration. Facing the new situation of the expansion of ethnic friction caused by the economic downturn,the British left believes that the concept system of the United States should not be used directly,but a"localization"suitable for the British national conditions should be constructed,the concept of"the Future of Multi-Ethnic of Britain".While the concept gains positive feedback,the challenge from academia and misunderstanding from the media greatly increase the difficulty of its promotion. However,the reality of intensified racial conflicts has prompted the new Labor Party to take"social cohesion"as its strategic focus and no longer participate in the"multi-ethnic future of Britain"program.At this point,the multi-ethnic future of Britain has gradually disappeared into mainstream public discourse.This also allows the British left to understand that racial issues should not be reduced to the tools of political parties games,and only by laying a solid material foundation can the cultural issue be truly solved.
