摘要 Most people have heard of monasteries such as the Jokhang Temple,Ramoche Monastery,Toling Monastery,Sagya Monastery, and Shalu Monastery, but Pashod Monastery is not one that pops up all too often in conversation, with only some having heard of it.Still, any scholar of Tibetan history(particularly during the time of China's Qing Dynasty)or Chinese history buffs know how popular the place is within their respective circles. The same can be said for those involved or interested in cultural relics and art history-related research. However, most of these merely indulge in discussions regarding non-fixed culturally and historically invaluable items kept inside the monastery(Buddhist statues, imperial edicts, dharma instruments, etc.)but rarely speak on the fragments of fresco paintings upon the monastery's walls. What remains of these paintings is truly magnificent and on par with the other items found within the monastery in terms of historical and artistic significance, but it has sadly failed to attract the same level of attention. In 2019,with the assistance of the Institute of Cultural Relics Preservation of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Center for Tibetan Studies, and the Archeology Department of the History&Cultural College of Sichuan University,in cooperation with the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Institute of the Cultural Relics Preservation of Chamdo Municipality of the Tibet Autonomous Region,a comprehensive series of studies was launched into the murals displayed within Jokhang Chamber of Pashod Monastery, and scholars could not hold back their excitem ent as paintings found on all four sides provided a most visually appealing feast.
