In April 2004,in order to cope with the construction of the Ling-Hou highway,a rescue excavation was carried out by the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology on twelve tombs found by an archaeological survey at 800m northeast of Yuancun Village at Nantang Township,Yicheng County,Shanxi Province. One of the tombs was well preserved and included discoveries of black-glazed bowls,Jun-glazed plates,red-green porcelain figurines, iron beasts,as well as a bronze mirror. The tomb was dated to the 6th Zhizheng regnal year of the Yuan Dynasty(1346)according to a piece of land purchase voucher which was unearthed.Although this Yuan Dynasty tomb was roughly constructed and was simple structures, the abundant materials found in this tomb,to a certain extent, reflected the local burial characteristics of the Yuan Dynasty and enriched the local archaeological data about the Yuan tombs.
