摘要
本文从认知体验的视角出发,尝试分析了介词of的多义性网络,以期对of的意义有个全面的理解。介词of的本源意义同拉丁语的ab和古高地德语的aba有关,表达的是off,from,away等意义。通过认知体验,of从本源意义发展出类典型意义,即表达某一物体的整体和部分之间的关系。通过进一步的认知语义扩展,of从类典型意义扩展出表达方方面面的整体和部分之间关系的延展意义。
This study is an attempt to explore the polysemy network of the preposition of from a cognitive-experiential perspective in order to have a comprehensive understanding of it. The original meaning of the preposition of has something to do with the Latin ab and the Old High German aba and expresses the meaning of"off, from, away". Through cognitive experience, its original meaning gets extended and has the prototypical meaning of denoting a part-whole relation. Through further cognitive meaning extension from the prototypical meaning, of has acquired its various extended meanings.
