In order to explore the compound properties of graphene, as lubricating oil additive, and zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate(ZDDP) additive, the oil samples with different mass fractions of graphene additive and mixed additive of graphene and ZDDP were prepared by using span80 as dispersant. The friction and wear test were carry out on the four-ball friction and wear testing machine by the different additive. The diameter, morphology and surface elements of grinding spots were analyzed by metallographic microscope and energy spectrometer. The results show that when the mass fraction of graphene is 0.03%, the average friction coefficient of sample is about 0.047, and the wear spot diameter is about 0.297 mm, which is reduced by 31.9% and 22.6% respectively as compared with that of the base oil. When the mass fraction of graphene and ZDDP is 0.03% and 0.5% respectively, the anti-wear performance of sample is greatly improved, and the wear spot diameter is about 0.145 mm, which is reduced by 36.9% as compared with that of the single graphene additive oil sample. It can be seen that the tribological properties of the friction pairs can be improved by using blends of graphene and ZDDP due to better synergistic role.
