索道交通系统由钢索、支承系统、吊厢、站房、动力系统、控制系统以及相关附件构成,在技术上已比较成熟.索道交通具有运力大、运行稳定、安全性好、经济回报率高、对环境无影响、适用于各种地形等优点,是一种绿色、节能、环保的交通工具;索道交通主要缺点是后期维护保养比较麻烦、紧急情况时人员疏散不够便捷.对某些城市来说,索道交通用于城市公共交通完全可行,可作为一种辅助公共交通工具,成为城市公交系统的有益补充.

Cableway transport is a new type of urban public transport,the whole system of which consists of steel cables,supporting system,hanging carriages,station buildings,power system,control system,and related accessories.Cable transportation has been relatively mature in technology,with large transportation capacity,stable operation,great safety,high economic return rate,and no impact on environment.Being a green,energy-saving,environment-friendly vehicle tool,cableway transport is thus suitable for all kinds of terrain.However,the main defect of cableway transportation is that late maintenance is troublesome and evacuation is not convenient in emergency.For some cities,cableway transportation is more suitable as an auxiliary public transportation,which serves as a beneficial supplement to the urban public transportation system.
