摘要
As a world-level author,Shakespeare is more and more popular to Chinese readers.However,Shakespeare is hard to un⁃derstand for students who are not familiar to British history.To facilitate the understanding of Shakespeare’s plays,this paper intro⁃duces the historical background and historical events depicted in the works of Shakespeare and lists several themes discussed in Shakespeare’s history plays and tragedies.
