The Spread and Reasons of Handwritten Books in Song Dynasty

宋代以来,尽管书籍印刷逐渐普及,但手抄传播,作为书籍传统传播方式,依然长盛不衰。宋代图书的手抄传播者有士人、书吏和书法家。士人抄书,可以传播知识。书吏抄书,是为了生计。书法家所抄书籍,既赏心悦目,又具有文献历史价值和艺术价值。图书手抄传播工序简单,既可练字,又可谋生,还可祈福禳灾和收藏。

Since the Song Dynasty,although the book printing gradually popularized,hand copy communication,as a traditional way of book communication,still flourished.There were scholars,scribes and calligraphers in Song Dynasty.Different form scholars who copy the books for spreading knowledge and scribes who copy books for their livelihood,calligraphers copy the books which are not only pleasing to the eyes,but also of historical and artistic value.Hand copying is of simple procedure,by which people can not only practice Chinese characters but also make a living.It also can be used for blessings and collection.
