中医药名词术语英译策略与方法辨析及体系初步构建

Analysis and framework of translation strategies and methods of TCM terminologies

中医翻译研究的热点是术语英译规范化,以往研究多探讨中医药名词术语翻译策略、方法和技巧,但3个概念界定不清晰,分类不明确,不利于中医药名词术语英译规范化和中医术语英汉双语词典的编纂。文章借鉴翻译研究的层级关系:宏观的原则指导(翻译策略)-中观的途径选择(翻译方法)-微观的具体实施(翻译技巧),辨析翻译策略、方法和技巧的概念内涵,分析30多年中医药名词术语英译策略与方法的研究,尝试构建中医药名词术语英译策略与方法的体系,为中医药名词术语英译规范化提供理论框架,为中医药名词术语中英双语词典编纂实践提供指导。

Standardization of traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)terminology translation has been the focus of TCM translation studies,most of which deal with strategies,methods and techniques of TCM terminology translation.However,unclear definitions and uncertain classifications of strategy,method and technique have hindered the process of standardization of TCM terminology translation and bilingual dictionary compilation of TCM terminology.In this paper,we identified the three key concepts based on the hierarchical framework of translation studies,i.e.,translation strategy at the top,translation technique at the bottom,and translation method in the middle.We also attempted to construct a strategy-method framework of TCM terminology translation by analyzing the relevant studies in the past thirty years.We hope this framework could provide a theoretical framework and guidance for further study of standardization of TCM terminology translation and bilingual dictionary compilation of TCM terminology.
