Objective To explore the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with COVID-19 and their role in disease classification. Methods The clinical data of T lymphocyte subsets from 36 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Xi’an Chest Hospital were collected. The clinical data of T lymphocyte subsets were compared between ordinary group(light and ordinary cases)and severe group(dangerous and severe cases),and between≥60 years old group and<60 years old group. Results In 36 COVID-19 patients, the total incidence of decreased T lymphocyte count(CD3^+),decreased T helper lymphocyte count(CD4^+),decreased lymphocyte count and decreased T-suppressed lymphocyte(CD8^+)count was 30.56%,41.67%,50.00%and 5.56%respectively.The incidences of decreased CD3^+and CD4^+counts in severe group were significantly higher than those in ordinary group(P<0.05),and the absolute counts of CD3^+and CD8^+in severe group were lower than those in ordinary group. In addition, the absolute counts of CD3+and CD8+of patients over 60 years old were significant lower than those of patients under 60 years old(P<0.05).Conclusion T lymphocyte counts are decreased in COVID-19 patients, especially in critical patients and patients over 60 years old.
