Echoes and Enlightenment of Jevons Paradox

英国经济学家杰文斯揭示了技术进步没有减少反而增加了煤炭消费量的悖论,揭露了技术进步、经济发展与环境保护内在的张力。百年后学界掀起了杰文斯研究热,反弹效应、增长的极限和环境正义等成为新的研究热点。在这些思考和践行中,绿色思潮运动仅仅是一种虚幻的乌托邦,资本主义国家的方案无法从根本上解决"杰文斯悖论",只有马克思主义的方案才能真正解决此难题。研究"杰文斯悖论"及其时代回响,有利于坚持和发展马克思主义,有利于为我国正确处理经济发展、技术进步和能源资源问题关系提供逻辑基础和智力支持。

British economist William Jevons revealed the paradox that technological progress increases rather than reduces coal consumption,showing the inherent tension among technological progress,economic development and environmental protection.A hundred years later,Jevons becomes a hot subject in the academic research.For instance,rebound effects,limits of growth and environmental justice have become new research hotspots.Among these reflections and practices,green movement is only an unreal utopia.The solutions of capitalist countries cannot fundamentally solve the Jevons paradox.Only the solutions of Marxism can truly solve this problem.The study on the Jevons paradox and its echoes is conducive to our adherence to and development of Marxism and it also provides a logical basis and intellectual support for China’s proper handling of the relationship among economic development,technological progress,and energy and resources.
