The Cognitive Deictic Representation of the Irish National Identity:A Case Study of Seamus Heaney’s Poems

认知指示语是认知诗学中的一个重要概念,为文学语篇分析提供了全新的理论工具和研究视角。本研究从认知指示语和指示转移理论出发探究谢默斯·希尼诗歌《挖掘》和《惩罚》中的爱尔兰民族身份特征。研究发现:感知指示语、时间指示语、空间指示语和关系指示语的动态转移以及静态层面的文本指示语和体裁指示语连接了历史与现实,体现了诗人对“挖掘”这一传统劳作方式的继承和对带有神秘色彩的“沼泽传说”的思考,凸显了其爱尔兰民族继承者和捍卫者的身份特征。

Cognitive deixis is an important concept in cognitive poetics,which provides a new theoretical perspective for the analysis of literary discourse.From the perspective of cognitive deixis and Deixis Shift Theory,this study analyzes the national identity embodied in Seamus Heaney’s“Digging”and“Punishment”.It is found that the dynamic shifts of perceptual,temporary,spatial and relational deixis as well as the static representation of textual and compositional deixis unfold the characteristics of the Irish national inheritor identity through the inheritance of the traditional labor method of“digging”and the Irish national defender identity through the reflection of the mysterious bog legends.
