词义演变的认知维度和社会维度——基于英语时间连词主观义的个案研究

Cognitive Dimension and Social Dimension of Semantic Change:A Case Study Based on the Subjective Sense of English Time Conjunctions

文章以英语时间连词主观义为研究对象,尝试从认知维度和社会维度两个方面考察其演变机制。研究表明,在英语时间连词主观义的演变过程中,认知维度为意义的产生提供了内部驱动因素,社会维度对意义的共享和固化起着外部调节作用。基于认知主体共有的认知体验,英语时间连词主观义之间存在共性,而由于认知的主观化倾向和社会认知能力的复杂性,英语时间连词主观义也呈现出一定的个性差异。

This paper,based on the cognitive dimension and social dimension,makes an exploration on the semantic change of English time conjunctions,finding that these words undergo a change in meaning from objective temporal senses to subjective non-temporal senses.In the generation of these subjective senses,cognitive dimension provides the internal stimulus while social dimension plays an important role in their sharing and solidification.Moreover,because of the common bodily cognition as well as the subjectivity of cognition and the complexity of social cognitive abilities,these English time conjunctions have both similarities and differences in the extension of their subjective non-temporal senses.
