摘要
维多利亚时期著名的英国小说家和插画家乔治·杜·莫里耶格外关注国家、国民性以及身份认同等问题。小说《特丽尔比》在各种思想和多元文化碰撞中,展现“英国性”、“他者”的文化对比、冲突和妥协,而“他者”对“英国性”的皈依、颠覆及其重构既是有意识的、批判性的建构过程,又是对传统“英国性”的部分肯定、批判和修复,最终达成了“他者”和“自我”的对立统一。
George du Maurier,a famous English novelist and illustrator in the Victorian era,paid special attention to the issues of country,national character and identity.In the environment where various ideas and diversified cultures collide,his novel Trilby reveals the“Englishness”through comparison,collision and compromise with the cultural“others”.The conversion,subversion and reconstruction of the“Englishness”by“others”is,on the one hand,a process of conscious and critical construction,and on the other hand,a process of partly affirming,partly criticizing and partly repairing,with“others”and“selves”ultimately achieving the unity of opposites.
