马丁语篇语义学中的意义耦合研究

On the Notion of Coupling in Martin’s Discourse Semantics

马丁(Martin)是系统功能语言学新一代的领军人物,其开创的积极话语分析视角在当今语篇语义学研究中亦极具盛名。学界关于马丁相关学术思想的研究颇丰,但以往的研究未系统探讨意义耦合研究及其重要性。以身份建构话语为例讨论“意义耦合”概念的社会符号学根源及其内涵,考察意义耦合研究对该视角的理论发展、语料库研究、多模态研究的启示,有利于语篇、语言使用者和语境的理论建构,并促进语篇的实践向积极的方向发展;其强调语篇系统内部静态与动态的耦合,使语篇语义研究顺应大数据时代发展的历史潮流;其关注语言模态与非语言模态之间的耦合,有利于新媒体时代下多模态话语意义建构的考察。

Martin is the founder of Positive Discourse Analysis and also the leading figure in Systemic Functional Linguistics.Numerous studies have been done on positive discourse analysis,but his notion of coupling and its importance still have room to explore.This paper introduces the social semiotic origin of“coupling”and its basic connotation,and takes discourse of identity construction as an example to explore its enlightenment on theoretical development,corpus studies and multimodal studies within Positive Discourse Analysis.It is shown that the notion of coupling helps with the systematic theoretical construction of discourse,language users and context,and enhances the development of discourse practice;it emphasizes static and dynamic perspectives to discourse,which contributes to discourse studies in the big data era;it focuses on the coupling between verbal mode and non-verbal mode and promotes multimodal research in this new media era.
