The Visual Field of Speed Political Economy and Its Significance

速度政治经济学乃是法国哲学家维希留提出的一种技术批判新视角,该视角旨在从财富和资本与速度的关系入手阐明当代的技术趋势及其后果。在速度政治经济学看来,任何社会形态都是建立在特定速度模式(即由速度体现的人与人以及人与自然之间的亲近关系)之上的,工业革命之后,权力被投资到加速之上,加速度取代了经济积累,现代性因此将遭受速度虚无主义的统治。针对这一事态,速度政治经济学提出了对全部人类知识体系进行质疑的认识批判以及重组公共生活的伦理要求。

Speed Political Economy is a new perspective of technology criticism proposed by the French philosopher Virilio, which aims at elucidating the contemporary technological trends and their consequences from the relationship between wealth, capital and speed. In the view of the speed political economy, any society is founded on a particular mode of speed(that is, the closeness of man to man and man to nature embodied in speed), and after the industrial revolution, power was invested in acceleration, acceleration replaces economic accumulation, and modernity will therefore be ruled by the nihilism. In response to this state of affairs, the speed political economy proposes an epistemological critique of the entire body of human knowledge and an ethical imperative to restructure public life.
